I've made this one for the new design of my Homepage "Geistermond". It represents duality, shadow and light, night and day, female and male etc.
Done with Photoshop.

Interesting. I like the colors you chose and the swirl pattern is really neat. I like the darker swirls under the white ones. Gives it depth. :)

Here is the constructive critique you wanted:

Interesting iconic representation. I think a little more Contrast between the light and dark moon would be in order. Deepen that existing shadow a little more or increase it's size a bit and that should do the trick. I think a reflex highlight on the right side of the dark moon kind of like a rim of light would also be a nice touch like the whole thing was made of ceramic.

the desing on the moon is interesting.
The only thing i kinda of don`t like is that unfocused clouds(i think it is clouds).

Looks nice anyways.
